Remember how I said I wasn’t a food blogger? Well, I’m still not. But I did go to another fancy restaurant with my #Swissters the other day, so I figured, why not? This time I went to Jamie’s Italian Trattoria in Parramatta (only a 10-15 minute train ride this time). It was the last time us #Swissters will be together until the end of the year because Kay is going to Geneva to intern at the United Nations. Yep, you read right. I’ve got smart and talented friends. It’s pretty awesome. Also, within the next two months, Zayra is heading to India for charity work, Jullie is going on a Pacific cruise near New Caledonia and I’ll be visiting relatives in Malaysia. It’s pretty crazy how we all started in Sydney, spent a year abroad in Switzerland and now we’re all on different paths and journeys.
Anyway, enough sentimental nonsense, let’s get to the food, shall we?
So our booking at the restaurant was for 4:45pm. Early dinner, right? Well, that’s because Jamie’s is literally FULLY BOOKED from 5pm onwards for the next week or so. So 4:45pm it was. I wasn’t too bothered, because can I just say that the food was really good? Expensive, but good.
The great thing about going to dinner with a group of friends is that you can order as many dishes as you want and just share them all. So we ordered 1 starter (Roasted Tomato Bruschetta) and 3 mains (Truffle Tagliatelle, Italian Hot Pizza and Lamb & Salumi Spiedini) and proceeded to stuff our faces.
The Italian Hot Pizza was really hot. Like my mouth was on fire. But I think my chilli tolerance is pretty good so I enjoyed it. The lamb skewer was pretty salty but worked well with the spinach, and the Truffle pasta was like ughhh. Can’t describe. Just ughh. As in, a good ughh.
Then it was time for dessert, of course. Four mouth-watering desserts coming right up! Warm Sour Cherry Frangipane Tart, Epic Chocolate Brownie, Chocolate Pear & Honeycomb Pavlova and Tangy Lemon Cheesecake.
First of all, I would like to profusely apologise for the really crap quality photo that I took of the Epic Chocolate Brownie. It does not do it any justice. IT IS SO GOOD it melts in your mouth and it’s just complete foodgasm. Highly recommend ordering the brownie if ever you happen upon Jamie’s Italian. Like, seriously.
And then of course we got a happy snap courtesy of the lovely waiter who made lots of jokes and tried to humorously steal Jullie’s pin number.
Ugh. I’m going to miss these girls. We all study different things, have different personalities and quirks, and yet we still get on so well. Love them.
Anyway, all together we paid $45 each (including wine). So it wasn’t so bad but it’s definitely not your Chinese take-out.
Until next time!
